Put down the cereal and try something new that will actually fuel your body for the day ahead. It may sound a bit odd, but keep an open mind and don’t knock it til you try it… Tuna Toast.
Here’s the recipe that I’ve been enjoying lately…
- Whole grain toast (2 slices)
- 1 can albacore white tuna
- Small drizzle of olive oil (about 1 teaspoon)
- 2 spoonfuls of Sauerkraut
- sprinkle of chia seeds
This breakfast packs a nutrient punch with over 20 grams of protein from the tuna, probiotics from the sauerkraut (way more than you’re getting in that sugar-laden yogurt), Omega-3 fats, fiber, calcium, and Iron from the Chia seeds, and in the olive oil, MORE healthy fats and vitamin E– just to name a few nutritional benefits. Don’t fear fats– the right ones (polyunsaturated are best) are so great for your health and will keep you full and satisfied all morning long!
Tuna on toast is delicious, and there are so many ways to play with it– add tomato, cucumber, spinach, pepper. Or cook it lightly and put a little cheese on it. Mix it with avocado! So many options which is why it’ll be hard to get bored with this breakfast option!
